Holland House Action Group (HHAG)

The Holland House Action Group or HHAG, was formed by a concerned group of people within the communities of Hook and Goole, East Yorkshire, upon the receipt of information that the local Residential Nursing Home - Holland House, was to be closed and transformed into a High Security Mental Health Facility.

The HHAG is concerned on two counts;

1. That the residents of Holland House had been served a Notice to Quit, without any prior notification to either themsleves or their families, thus causing grave concern as there is a distinct shortage of residential nursing beds in the area.

2. That the proposed development to transform Holland House into a High Security Mental Health Facility for people diagnosed with DSPD (Dangerous & Severe Personality Disorder) had been very quietly pushed through, without any notification or public consultation with the communities in the vicinity. Furthermore, the proposed development is within half a mile of the village of Hook with it's nurseries and Primary School, and less than 250 yards from the latest ongoing development in Goole.

Clearly, the situation required focused action from the community, and so the HHAG was formed.
